Who are we?

What-Is-What gives you easy answers to everyday questions. We define words, acronyms, ideas, products, and software. Although we have a computer-related and open-source slant, we try to answer almost any technology or science question. What-Is-What aims to provide simple, informative answers that don't require a degree in Computer Science to understand.

This site is run by a university student who is constantly being asked "What's this?" and "What's that?". I've become a quick, reliable source of information for my friends and family because I read a lot, and know where to find what I don't know. I mostly specialize in computer-related fields, but I do read just about anything that I come across. Of course, carrying the Wikipedia in my PocketPC helps build credibility, too. Want to know more? Just ask!

In May 2007, after running the site for over a year with no income, I added Google Adsense advertisements to What-Is-What.com. While I enjoy answering questions, the pace has often come at the expense of either schoolwork or real work. As I cannot let my university degree slip because of this site, I've decided to monetize it. We'll see how it goes. Maybe I'll become a millionaire from What-Is-What.com and I won't need that engineering degree after all!
